As of last month a whole new chapter opened for Greek railway as passengers are now able to book their tickets directly online. The CEO of Greek railways operating unit Trainose, Athanasios Ziliaskopoulos, announced the news last month at an event in Thessaloniki.

According to reports, Mr. Ziliaskopoulos said Trainose would focus on intermodal transportation (train-bus) to cope with various “problematic” parts of the transport network. He mentioned western Macedonia as an example and underlined that there is no intention to replace the KTEL bus services (intercity routes) but to make the railway more competitive.

Trainose is the company that runs the train services on railway lines in Greece that are owned and operated by the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE).
