According to reports, Greek travel agencies that organize or are interested in organizing cultural tours in Greece for visitors from the Asian continent such as China, will travel to Shanghai in late October under the auspices of the Synod Office of Pilgrimage Tours of the Church of Greece. There they will hold meetings with Chinese tourism professionals and discuss cooperation opportunities. Travel agencies to take part in the trip include Ambotis Tours Air Services, Exodos Travel & Congress, MP Mediterranean Partners, Panhellas International Travel & Tourism and Travel Plan. The Church of Greece launched a strategy earlier this year to attract tourists to the country’s sacred religious sites (Holy Monasteries, Pilgrimage sites and other religious monuments) following a protocol signed with the Greek Tourism Ministry for the development of religious-pilgrimage tourism in Greece. The upcoming trip to Shanghai follows the participation of the Church of Greece in the Beijing International Tourism Expo (BITE) in June.
