Likewise, archaeological sites in Greece saw a 23.8 percent increase in visitor numbers and a 13.3 percent increase in revenue from receipts. According to ELSTAT, during the January-July 2013 period, a 17.2 percent increase in museum visitors and a 12.4 percent increase in the receipts were recorded, compared with the corresponding period last year. Visitors to archaeological sites during the first seven months of 2013 were up by 28.7 percent and receipts rose by 19.5 percent, compared to the same period in 2012.
