Total travel receipts in Greece posted a 17.3 percent increase in the first quarter of the year compared with the same period in 2013, Greek newspaper Kathimerini recently said quoting the Bank of Greece.

The total came to 471.4 million euros, while the number of visitors from abroad expanded by 15.4 percent to 1.3 million tourists.

Meanwhile the first figures regarding arrivals by air last month showed that the high rate of growth continued at the start of the peak season at popular Greek destinations.

Corfu’s airport saw a 13.2 percent yearly rise and Rhodes observed a 10.9 percent increase.
