Nafpaktos Municipality Teaches Tourism to Local Professionals

Naypaktos_1As part of its efforts to open up to new markets, the municipality of Nafpaktos, western Greece, held the 1st Tourism Workshop on March 11, with the second in the series to be held on April 22 at the town’s Xenia Hotel.

Naypaktos limaniThe first in a series of seminars was organized by tourism consultants MTC Group with the support of the Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA) within the framework of a recent decision to work together to promote less frequented destinations to Greek and foreign tourists through far-reaching strategies.

Issues addressed at the workshop included forecasts for 2015, research and analysis results of visitor impressions recorded by TripAdvisor and a presentation of specialized tourism products and packages by HATTA. Organizers also held private meetings with local sector professionals interested in receiving knowhow and information on how to improve their business.

Deputy Nafpaktos Mayor Ioannis Raptis stressed the importance of the municipality’s initiative to motivate, inform and train professionals in tourism with the aim to improve the quality of services offered and the effective penetration of their businesses in Greece and abroad.
