Stressing the need to tap into the potential of sea tourism and find ways to improve standards and services and within its ongoing strategy to support such efforts, Greek travel experts Αktina Travel Group sponsored this year’s 3rd Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum held in Athens this week. “It is vital to have a comprehensive strategic plan for the development of Greek sea tourism. Every marina and port receiving cruise ships should become a center of growth for local economies, supporting the business activities of each region and creating hundreds of new jobs,” Aktina Travel Group Vice President and CTO Andromachi Zerzivili said during the forum. “This said, private initiative should be the pillar of support, launching investments in the upgrade of infrastructure and services to enable our country to compete with neighboring countries such as Turkey and Croatia.” Ms Zerzevili added that the use of Piraeus port as a Home Port as well as the agreements made with strong international cruise companies is a very important step towards strengthening cruise travel to Greece. Founded in 1975, Aktina Travel Group is a family-run business active in all fields of the tourism industry and has a number of affiliates and subsidiaries. Aktina Travel is the only travel agency with an office at Athens International Airport. The Group announced that it will also sponsor the Posidonia 2016 exhibition set to take place in Athens on June 6-10.
