Passenger traffic came to 8 million in the first six months of 2015, up by 23 percent compared to 6.4 million in the same period last year, according to airport data released this week. Total traffic for June came to 1.9 million travelers against 1.5 million in the same month in 2014, up by 22 percent. Domestic traffic came to 2.9 million passengers compared to 2.2 million in the first half of 2014, marking a 27 percent increase, with 660,000 travelers, up by 24 percent, in June, against 531,000 in 2014. Incoming traffic exceeded 5 million against 4.2 million last year, rising by 21 percent, with 1.2 million against 1 million during the same period last year. The number of Greek travelers in June increased by 10 percent, while the figure for foreign visitors was up by 29 percent with the number of domestic passengers rising by 18 percent in the first half of the year and foreign travelers by 28 percent.
