BSP (Billing and Settlement Plan) is the method by which travel agencies remit money to airlines. The decision was taken by the group due to the financial situation in the country. The group has informed that it will also accept cash payments at its Athens office and at the Lufthansa Group ticket counters in Athens International Airport. According to Lufthansa, the measure is temporary and will be in force until further notice. Greek travel agents should know that the payments in the BSP can be made with both international and Greek credit cards. Lufthansa continues to accept all forms of payment (including credit cards issued in Greece) from Greek individual customers. Meanwhile, British Airways (BA) has notified Greek travel agents that the “preferred method of payment” both for BA and Iberia in the BSP is credit card, without however excluding any other payment methods. Also, 37 international airlines announced that they were temporarily withdrawing the BSP ticketing authority for all travel agents in Greece due to the political instability and financial situation in the country.
