The electronic ticketing system is now being tested before its official implementation on April 2. According to OASA, commuters can choose from two options: the integrated ΑΤΗ.ΕΝΑ ticket and the ΑΤΗ.ΕΝΑ card, both can be topped up depending on travel needs for daily, five- or three-day travel and are valid on travel modes across Athens including Athens metro and express buses to Athens International Airport. ATH.ENA cards are issued following application online at www.athenacard.gr. The e-tickets apply on buses, trolley cars, train and metro services. Validation systems are in place at the Kifissia, Kallithea and Maroussi train stations and at the Syntagma tram stop. Cards are not yet available. Meanwhile, Athens public transport users can continue to purchase tickets or use old previously issued transport cards and validate them in the usual fashion.
