Titled, “Women of Syros”, the exhibition depicts 20 portraits of women with flowers on their hair and aims at highlighting the connection between the beauty of women and nature. Panagaki’s artwork is part of a larger series, created under the title “Women of the Aegean”. According to an announcement, the photographer is traveling to the Aegean islands to meet its residents and learn more on their everyday lives. They open their homes and guide her through their gardens, some of them “secret”, often hidden from indiscreet eyes. She started from Patmos in 2015, she continued to Tinos and this year on Syros. Every island offers a unique experience, another way of life and features different flowers. The women depicted in the photos cover a wide range of individuals who love Syros. They either originate from the island or have chosen to move to Syros from other places of the world, thus have a strong connection with it. They are involved in charity activities, agriculture, production, trade, sports and arts. The exhibition is taking place at the premises of the Ano Syros former Treasury, within the framework of the “Syros – Culture 2017” festivities, organized by the Syros – Ermoupolis Municipality.
