The Santoro Restaurant of the luxury boutique hotel Grace Santorini has been honored as one of the best restaurants in Greece at the Greek Cuisine Awards 2018, held recently by Athinorama magazine. The Greek Cuisine Awards focus exclusively on restaurants offering Greek cuisine and this year were held independently from the Golden Chef’s Hat Awards (Toques d’ Or), the annual event organized since 1992 by Athinorama and the Alpha Guide. According to Lena Livanidou, head of Grace Hotels in Europe, the new distinction has placed the Santoro Restaurant among the top gastronomy destinations in Greece. “It fills us with pride and confirms our efforts to provide our guests with a unique culinary experience,” Livanidou said. The new accolade was added to a number of awards Grace Santorini’s restaurant has received during the last three years, including the Golden Chef’s Hat 2017 and the FNL Best Restaurant Awards 2017. Located on Santorini, the Santoro Restaurant aims to give its guests the opportunity to enjoy a special gastronomy experience with signature dishes that highlight the best of Greek cuisine and its international dynamics, its history and the wealth of quality products. “Under the supervision of award-winning executive chef Spyros Agious and using ingredients and flavors of the Cyclades, the restaurant’s style reveals a modern approach in Greek cuisine, inspired by traditional dishes prepared with fusion techniques,” the hotel’s management said in an announcement. Santoro took its name after Santorini and the latin word “oro”, which means “gold”, to honor the stunning view of the sunset, “…which is a timeless source of inspiration for the chef”. The Greek Cuisine Awards 2018 ceremony was held at the Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki in the northern port city.
