All routes will be carried out via passenger ship High Speed Azimut Joy Cruises, of ferry company Ilida Paxos Hydrofoil, which has a length of 30 meters, a maximum width of 6 meters and a passenger capacity of 170.

This week there will be only one route, next week two itineraries will take place and and from the following week the service is expected to run three times a week until the end of October.

The Corfu-Zakynthos route will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The return route, connecting Zakynthos to Corfu, will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

“We are delighted that this ferry service, the connection line for the Ionian Sea, comes after many decades as of May 2 to the end of October and will unite the Ionian Islands,” Ionian Islands Regional Governor Theodoros Galiatsatos said in an announcement.

Tourism professionals expect the new route to positively affect the tourist traffic of the Ionian Islands as visitors will be able to travel easily from one island to another.

Galiatsatos added that when the seasonal line stops in October, the region will evaluate the results of the service and return next season with upgraded services that will boost the connection of the Ionian islands and the local economy.

Our trip with the Azimut was a pleasant one with views of the Ionian islands. A few details such as upgrading the wc’s as well as providing more snacks in the snack bar would be nice. The staff were polite, friendly and cooperative.
