Located in one of the city’s most stylish and scenic locations, the Astir Palace in Vouliagmeni, “the restaurant has become a point of reference in the Athenian gastronomy scene”, an announcement said. This year, executive chef Nikos Skamnakis and head sushi chef Toni Vratsanou present a menu of unique flavors. Skamankis has previously worked for the Matsuhisa Badrutt’s Palace Saint Moritz and the Matsuhisa Mykonos. Moreover, Vratsanos has worked as a sushi chef manager for Yo’ Sushi and “Nobu” – London. He has been the sushi chef of Matshuhisa Athens for the last ten years. The chefs have prepared a new version of the popular Omakase menus with a creative twist, aiming to surprise the restaurant’s fans – and not only. Some of the new creations that promise a high-end gastronomy experience include the style salmon; tomato quinoa ceviche; spinach salad lobster; anticucho brazed short ribs; yellowtail jalapeno; toro jalapeno and shrimp koilados tiradito; and black cod. As “umi” in Japanese means “sea”, the bar is overlooking the Saronic Gulf. It is the first bar baring the signature of chef Nobu Matsuhisa and aims at introducing its guests to exceptional cocktails created by specialized internationally-acclaimed mixologists headed by expert Charis Georgopoulos. The Umi Bar on Thursdays hosts renowned Greek DJs, who pump up the volume in view of the sunset.
