ASTA Appoints George Paliouras as President of Greek Chapter

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) has appointed Greek travel professional, George Paliouras, as the president of its Chapter in Greece.

George has an experience of 25 years in the sales, marketing and management of Greek cruise lines and tour operators, focusing on the Mediterranean. With a deep knowledge of the Greek and international markets, his aim is to build strong relations between the members of the Greek Chapter and ASTA’s international partners.

“George has the necessary expertise, leadership and quality skills, as well as industry connections to make our Greek Chapter one of the most successful in the world,” said Bob Duglin, ASTA Vice President, International Membership & Expansion.

“As Greece’s recovery [from recession] continues, we realize that US travel advisors can play a key role in increasing the number of visitors from the United States to Greece by working with their Greek counterparts,” he added.

George is a member of the Board of Directors and General Commissioner of the Association of Tourist and Travel Agencies in Greece (HATTA); member of the board – responsible for strategic development and communication of the Federation of Greek Travel and Travel Agencies Associations (FedHATTA), and representative to the National Cruise Steering Committee of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy.

He is also the Business Development Manager of Rhapsody Travel in Greece.

George worked closely with FedHATTA for the 2018 ASTA Destination Expo, which was recently held in Athens.

Rebranded in 2018 as the American Society of Travel Advisors, ASTA is the leading global advocate for travel advisors, the industry and the traveling public. Its members represent 80 percent of all travel sold in the United States through the travel agency distribution channel.
