Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis will promote Greece at India’s Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) 2020 in Mumbai that will take place February 3-5, an announcement of the Tourism Ministry said on Sunday.

An exclusive three-day B2B trade show at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre, OTM is the gateway to India’s 22 million outbound travelers.

Minister Theoharis will look to strengthen relations between the two countries in order to attract even more tourists to Greece from India’s very large and rising market.

According to the UNWTO, India is the second fastest growing outbound travel market in the world.

During his visit to OTM 2020, Minister Theocharis will attend scheduled meetings with India’s tourism minister, Pradhan Singh Patel, leading tour operators and tourism bodies of the market of India.

“The significance of the tourism minister’s trip to India lies in the fact that this country is of great interest to Greece, as the peoples of both countries have deep cultural roots and common historical references,” the tourism ministry said in the announcement.

The minister will also go to Bollywood, where the Indian Hindi-language film industry is located.

India’s film industry has already shown an interest in Greece, both for the filming of music video clips and scenes of popular series.

More than 1,300 exhibitors from 60 different countries and over 14,000 buyers are expected to attend the OTM 2020 trade show.
