Titled “Greece Forward”, the government’s national reform plan lays out some 134 priority actions to be implemented by each ministry in the 2020-2021 period. More specifically, the tourism ministry will have to move ahead with the creation a legal framework for special interest tourism (by 2021) with a focus on the development of diving (2020), silver (2021), and climbing tourism (2021); simplify procedures for the licencing of tourist port (marinas) concession deals (2021); and improve tourism education and training (by 2020) through the upgrade of higher tourism education, the creation of a university in tourism and an institute of tourism research. According to reports, a special supervisory committee will be meeting each month to assess progress made on these actions and every three months it will submit an evaluation report to the ministerial committee.
