Mendoni also met with Chania Mayor Panagiotis Simandirakis with whom she discussed a new agreement between the ministry and the municipality that will set the groundwork and timetable for high priority works including restoration projects in the Old Town and the fortress and plans for the unification of the city’s historical and archaeological sites. Mendoni also visited a number of Cretan sites and landmarks, including the Chania fortifications, Agios Nikolaos Bastion, and the Mocenigo Bastion.
