The test must performed up to 72 hours before travelers enter Greece through the country’s northern border with Bulgaria. The announcement followed a teleconference of government officials chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday. The new measure was decided after a spike in Covid-19 cases was recorded at the Promachonas border check point during the past days. UPDATE – Requirements to enter Greece from Promachonas According to a joint ministerial decision published on Saturday, entry to Greece from the Promachonas border checkpoint is allowed provided that travelers entering the country: 1) have tested negative for Covid-19 by taking a PCR laboratory test (nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swabs) within the last 72 hours before their arrival. Travelers must have been tested at reference laboratories of the country of origin or transit or at public or private laboratories of that country. If the laboratories are private, they must be certified by the competent national certification authority. 2) have the diagnosis in English, which includes each person’s name and passport number or ID card. It is noted that the announced measure does not apply to Greek citizens entering the country via Promachonas. According to the National Public Health Organization (EODY), of the new cases reported, 40 were found among incoming visitors after screening. The number of coronavirus cases reported in Greece has been a double-digit figure since July 1, when Greece opened to tourists. According to EODY, within 11 days, a total of 367 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in Greece, with most of them coming from out of the country and detected after tests at entry points and mainly the Promachonas border station. All travelers to Greece are still obliged to complete the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) 24 hours before entering the country. The Greek government said it would strengthen checks throughout the country to ascertain that all health protocols are being followed. Reply Tomislav 23 July 2020 - 10:16 Why you delete my question? I know that in Makaza you may pass without PCR test only in case if you own property in Greece. Now I am asking about the protocol in Promahonas? It seems that you are applying double standards.Your procedures are not clear. In the same time you can Enter and exit Bulgaria without any obstacles and requirements. Please DO NOT DELETE MY QUESTIONS. Reply Gerald Krainz 11 July 2020 - 17:10 Coming from Vienna/Austria my border crossing BG-GR is planned on a Sunday evening or Monday morning in August. The test evaluation alone takes 24-48 hours. This can never go out taking 72 hours taking travel time and weekend into account. Please tell me how can I handle this.
