COVID-19 Restarting Travel & Tourism in Greece New Tourism Campaign Launches for South Aegean Islands by GTP editing team 21 July 2020 written by GTP editing team 21 July 2020 1 comment Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 22 The South Aegean Region recently launched a new digital campaign to promote the Greek islands of the Cyclades and the Dodecanese to European source tourism markets. Under the motto “The Aegean Islands. Your real summer. Like no other”, the campaign is currently running in 12 countries, namely Germany, the UK, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Its message combines the motto of the Region’s previous campaign – “Aegean Islands. Like no other” – and Greece’s current national campaign promoting “Greek Summer”. “The COVID-19 pandemic has not interrupted the promotion strategy of the South Aegean Region. It has redirected our promotional campaign and made us adaptable and more effective,” South Aegean Governor George Hatzimarkos said. The campaign uses digital means, special tools and algorithms to locate its target audience and effectively distribute promotional material. The first phase aims to place the Aegean islands among the desired holiday destinations of the target audience and present them as unique vacation spots. Furthermore, the campaign aims to promote this season on the Aegean islands as the “real summer” experience. The “The Aegean Islands. Your real summer. Like no other” campaign is also based on the desire of holidaymakers to “escape” from the lockdown and the negative experience of the coronavirus pandemic and enjoy summer with the sea & sun as the dominant element of their holidays along with culture, gastronomy and adventure. Designed based on a study conducted by consulting companies Novus Mind and Horwath, and implemented by Marketing Greece, the campaign is currently running with animated banners, featuring landmark locations of the Aegean islands, on hundreds of websites in the aforementioned countries.
