Heraklion, Crete

Greek authorities, on Monday announced emergency restrictions for the region of Heraklion on the island of Crete, in efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

As a result, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection has imposed a ban on all public events including parties, outdoor festivals, religious/church gatherings and open-air “laiki” markets.

Furthermore, all shops must remain closed between midnight and 7am; all forms of public gatherings of more than nine people are prohibited in public or private spaces, while a maximum of four people is allowed at restaurant or café tables (six if they are family members).

In addition, face masks are mandatory in all indoor and outdoor public areas.

The measures will be put into effect from Tuesday, September 1, at 6am until September 15, at 6am.

It is reminded that Covid-19 restrictions have also been imposed in other Greek tourism destinations including Zakynthos and Lesvos, Chania, Halkidiki and Mykonos, Paros and Antiparos.

Greece on Monday announced 183 new coronavirus cases and four new related fatalities.

Es ist viel sicherer hier als in Zentraleuropa! So lange man gesund anreist! Abstand halten, ffp2/kn95-Masken tragen wo angebracht und man sich sicherer fühlt. Kein Grund, geplante Reisen zu stornieren. Zumal es auf Kreta so viele einsame Orte gibt und man viel im Freien sein kann!

Do as told so you and the others can avoid the virus, perhaps. IF you do not Luke masks, I assure you would not like the breathing tube either.

Don’t cancel, no one is wearing them by pool, beach or outside, only in shops, same as at home and I am in Chania.
