Covid-19 Government measures Covid-19 Measures Announced for Heraklion on Crete by GTP editing team 31 August 2020 written by GTP editing team 31 August 2020 7 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 30 Heraklion, Crete Greek authorities, on Monday announced emergency restrictions for the region of Heraklion on the island of Crete, in efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus. As a result, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection has imposed a ban on all public events including parties, outdoor festivals, religious/church gatherings and open-air “laiki” markets. Furthermore, all shops must remain closed between midnight and 7am; all forms of public gatherings of more than nine people are prohibited in public or private spaces, while a maximum of four people is allowed at restaurant or café tables (six if they are family members). In addition, face masks are mandatory in all indoor and outdoor public areas. The measures will be put into effect from Tuesday, September 1, at 6am until September 15, at 6am. It is reminded that Covid-19 restrictions have also been imposed in other Greek tourism destinations including Zakynthos and Lesvos, Chania, Halkidiki and Mykonos, Paros and Antiparos.
