The mega triathlon event, was originally scheduled to take place on April 5, at Costa Navarino in Messinia, but was rescheduled for October 25, and finally postponed for 2021. “We thought we could carry out this high-quality event… Unfortunately, the IRONMAN 70.3 Greece event can not take place in 2020 and will return in 2021,” the organizers said in announcement, also adding that they have put the health and safety of the community first, in line with the relevant mesures imposed by the Greek government against the COVID-19 pandemic. Registered athletes will receive an e-mail with further information. Considered one of the most difficult triathlon events in the world, IRONMAN counts 260 events in over 60 countries in six continents with more than 1 million athletes. The event was held in Greece for the first time in 2019, with the participation of 1,500 athletes from all over the world. IRONMAN 70.3 includes half the distances of the original event: A 1,9 km swimming race; a 90 km bicycle ride and a 21.1 km marathon run. The organizing team of IRONMAN 70.3 Greece has already started planning the 2021 event. More information will be released in the coming weeks.
