According to an announcement by the Commission, the two countries will be connected to the EU’s system and the COVID certificates they issue will be accepted in the EU under the same conditions as the EU Digital COVID Certificate. At the same time, the two countries agreed to accept the EU Digital COVID Certificate for travel from the EU to their countries. “Safer travel is a reality thanks to the EU Digital COVID Certificate, which is now the leading global standard: 45 countries in four continents are connected to the system and more will follow in the coming weeks and months,” Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, said. The two decisions adopted will enter into force as of Friday, October 29. According to Reynders, the Commission is open to other countries to join the EU Digital COVID Certificate gateway. Right now 45 countries in four continents are connected to the EU system. I recently travelled to the UK, my vaccination was valid for travel to the UK but I was not considered fully vaccinated when I was identied as someone who had been in contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid on my flight to the UK. As a result I was requested to self-isolate for 10 days. If I would have had my vaccionations in the UK I would not have had to self-isolate. Is this issue adressed in this new agreement? Reply Carlo Castellucci 29 October 2021 - 12:13 Any way we can find out about acceptance of Vaccine Certificate from Hong Kong? We get Pfizer Biontech vaccinations here. The UK recognises HK Certificate of Vaccination, issued by HK Government, as announced recently. Thank you!
