According to a ministry announcement, as of November 16 all residence permits, residence cards and permanent residence cards that have been issued to citizens of third countries, will be renewed exclusively online through the ministry’s electronic services at https://applications.migration.gov.gr/metanasteusi/. The new service concerns approximately 700,000 individuals of which 250,000 are holders of residence permits that expire on December 31, 2021. The new platform has been launched in order to prevent overcrowding, queuing and long waits at the ministry’s offices, as well as to speed up the application processes for issuing residence permits. The process requires the identification of the user via mobile phone and email, while communication with the applicant will be done exclusively online. The submission of the application by an attorney-at-law can take place through the electronic platform of the Plenary of Presidents of Greek Bars Associations (portal.olomeleia.gr). Once the application process is complete, applicants will receive an electronic invitation on when they can receive the biometric data on a predetermined date.
