Greece to End PLF Requirement for Travelers

Travelers visiting Greece will no longer be required to fill in a PLF form starting March 15, Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias announced on Thursday.

Kikilias said the decision, approved by the country’s Covid-19 committee, facilitates travel refocusing management efforts on vaccination status.

The Passenger Locator Form (PLF) was introduced in the midst of the pandemic as a mandatory requirement for travel and admission into Greece.

“Following the recommendation of health ministry’s committee of experts, the completion of the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) by visitors from all countries for entry into Greece is abolished as of March 15, 2022. This simplifies entry procedures for travelers, shifting the emphasis to the control of vaccination certificates,” said Kikilias.

His announcement comes as part of efforts to simplify Covid-19 rules and health protocols for travelers ahead of the country’s official opening this month to tourists. 

The minister underlined that Greece was once again at the forefront with a set of revised protocols for tourism enterprises.

“We are for one more year ready to welcome our visitors in safety,” he said.

On Wednesday, Health Minister Thanos Plevris announced that wearing masks outdoors was no longer mandatory as of Saturday.

Additionally, the Covid committee also recommended increasing tourist bus capacity to 100 percent starting March 5, with natural ventilation and use of a mask.

It should also be noted that Greek hotels with more than 50 rooms are obliged to cooperate with a medical doctor or health center.

Under the revised health protocols:

– accommodation facility owners must provide disposable gloves to staff in housekeeping and kitchens 

– customers will no longer be required to use gloves at hotel buffets

– the use of disinfectant liquid is mandatory

– disposable tablecloths and steam cleaning surfaces are no longer required.
