Covid-19 Government measures Greece Considers Scrapping Covid Certificate for Restaurants by GTP editing team 22 March 2022 written by GTP editing team 22 March 2022 6 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 40 Greek authorities are considering the removal of most Covid-19 measures by Easter, including the need to present a vaccination certificate to enter restaurants, bars and entertainment venues. Infectious diseases expert and member of the government’s Covid management committee, Gkikas Magiorkinis said there may be no need to use of the Covid vaccination certificate during Holy Week ahead of Orthodox Easter on April 24. However, the government still has to clarify whether this will apply to all spaces – indoor and outdoor. In the meantime, infectious diseases professor Sotiris Tsiodras ruled out the need for a 4th booster shot against Covid-19 for non-vulnerable groups, adding however that the Omicron2 strain of the deadly virus was more infectious. He went on to stress the need for mask-wearing, particularly for high-risk citizens and in crowded areas such as hospitals and mass transport. Tsiodras also did not rule out the possibility of a new Covid variant emerging and added that once the pandemic subsides, an annual Covid shot will be required. On his part, Magiorkinis added that it will take a while before Covid-19 cases decline, adding that virus spread will continue into the summer but will be more manageable. Lastly, he echoed Tsiodras, noting that according to assessments, experts expect a virus resurgence and renewed pressure on the public health system in October, in which case the use of the vaccination certificate will be reinstated. Currently, unvaccinated individuals or those who have not completed their vaccination cycle (booster shot included) cannot enter nightclubs, indoor dining areas, theaters, cinemas, museums, conferences, exhibitions and gyms. Greece recorded 23,529 new coronavirus cases on Monday and 58 deaths. Nothing could be farther from the truth! But it is easy to fool scared and uneducated people, and those in power know EXACTLY how to take advantage of that…. Reply Johnny Zoumboulis 23 March 2022 - 13:56 Power hungry autocrats; dictators wearing thousand dollar suits on the public’s expense. History will look back at this moment in time with shame along with anger at the lack of a true organised non violent uprising that was not done the moment they first declared themselves rulers of peoples bodily autonomy. Reply Lesley 23 March 2022 - 13:34 If the current high covid infected numbers are correct and most of the nation have received the 2-3 vaccines then to my reasoning, it’s us vaccinated who are getting and spreading the virus? Something is not making sense Reply Free man abbi 23 March 2022 - 23:11 Enough is enough . We will not agree to more corona dictatorship and vaccine apartheid. Reply mike 24 March 2022 - 23:02 i agree with your reasoning Lesley Reply Tony 25 March 2022 - 16:53 The vaccine does not stop the spread of the virus, nor does it prevent an individual from catching it. At best, it only reduces the viruses impact. I Reply Leave a Reply to Free man abbi Cancel Reply Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. Δ
