More specifically, 2,000 British holidaymakers participated in a poll on the world’s best value travel destination and ranked Greece third out of 26 countries giving it a score of 89 percent. According to the same survey, which was published this week in euronews.travel, Spain was the best value travel destination in the world, garnering a 92 percent score, followed by the Canary Islands, Greece, Portugal (88 percent), Turkey (88 percent), Mexico (85 percent), Thailand, Malta, and Cyprus. Post Office analysts are encouraging vacationers to research before travel as prices have risen in some destinations and fallen in others. In Greece, prices have dropped by 15 percent year-on-year, analysts said. Commenting on the news, Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias said travelers have begun to recognize Greece for its safety record and high quality tourism product. “Greece has proven to be a safe tourist destination and I am pleased to see that after more than two years of the pandemic and in the midst of all these crises, we have managed to rebrand the country, which has resulted in our visitors recognizing that we have a unique tourist product.” The minister underlined that the momentum was the result of systematic and dedicated work over the previous months to ensure quality services, more tourist arrivals at more destinations for a longer period of time and with higher average spending. “Tourists are showing confidence in our country. We have hospitality, a word that does not translate into any another language and that is at the heart and soul of every Greek and keeps travelers coming back for more,” said Kikilias. Reply Aline Dobbie 9 June 2022 - 11:59 I concur with what has been written. We go back to Greece for sheer pleasure, leisure, sailing and guaranteed sun. Greece must continue to uphold her standards and ensure that her small towns and cities remain clean and tidy. Holiday makers and travellers seek all that I have said but they also appreciate cleanliness, orderliness, and maintenance. Greece entered my heart way back in 1963, when I was but a teen and I have constantly written about her islands, her capital her second city, mainland and the beautiful big island of Crete Reply Leave a Reply to Carl+Simpson Cancel Reply Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
