Launched by Green Destinations, a non-profit foundation for sustainable destination development and recognition, the “Athens Sustainability Stories Competition” aims to showcase good practices and innovations in responsible tourism and leisure in Athens. Supported by the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (EATA) and Google Greece, the competition is open to businesses located within the geographical boundaries of the Municipality of Athens and active in the tourism sector. All types of businesses in the tourism supply chain are welcome to apply. Entrants must have a business or initiative already committed to sustainability practices and offerings. Photo source: Municipality of Athens All entries must be submitted considering one of the following categories: Energy & Water, Waste Management & Circular Economy, Supply Chain & Green Procurement and People & Culture. The competition is being launched within the framework of the “Green Destinations 2022- Future of Tourism Summit” that will take place in Athens during September 26-October 1. Submissions are open until October 22 but businesses that apply by September 20 may have the chance to be selected to be presented on the first day of the Green Destinations 2022 event in Athens. All finalists will be awarded with one year of pro bono support and special certification. Winners will receive extra promotion and visibility through media partners.
