Greek airline company AEGEAN was named the Best Regional Airline in Europe at the prestigious World Airline Awards 2022 by Skytrax, held recently at the historic Langham Hotel in London. Widely regarded as ‘the Oscars of the aviation industry’, the World Airline Awards began in 1999 and is the largest airline passenger satisfaction survey. Every year travellers across the world vote to determine the award winners. It is the 11th consecutive year that AEGEAN has been voted by its passengers as Best Regional Airline in Europe. The top regional award coincides with another strong performance in the overall World’s Best Regional Airline section with an excellent second place position. “Year-on-year AEGEAN has been a remarkably consistent performer in the World Airline Awards survey, and it is a fabulous achievement to be voted by their customers as the Best Regional Airline in Europe for the 11th time in succession. In addition to the excellent 2nd place result in the global regional award category, AEGEAN cabin staff were also amongst the top-10 in Europe,” Edward Plaisted of Skytrax said. The online customer survey operated from September 2021 to August 2022. The customer survey is provided in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Japanese and Chinese. Over 100 customer nationalities participated in the 2021/2022 survey. “At a time where prevailing and new global challenges as well as the increased desire to travel have prolonged turbulences in air travel worldwide, the recognition of our efforts to continue offering a unique travel experience for our passengers, through this award, becomes even more significant. Therefore, this distinction belongs primarily to our people whereas at the same time it symbolizes our commitment and focus to continue earning the preference and love of our passengers,” AEGEAN CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis said. I am traveling through Europe. Of 6 flights, 3 are Aegean. All 3 flights were delayed 60 minutes + and they lost my luggage on one flights. I will not fly Aegean Airlines again. It is unreliable. Reply Joan Brewer 29 September 2022 - 11:47 Unfortunately not everyone agrees. In September they brought forward the timing of the first flight to Samos from Athens which resulted in a 4hour layover after an overnight flight from the UK. On checking the schedules for 2023 they have also changed the departure time from Manchester which now requires an overnight stay.
