US and Greece Strengthen Tourism Ties with New Cooperation Agreement

The Greek association and federation that represents the country’s travel agents recently renewed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA), aiming to boost bilateral tourist flows between Greece and the US.

The agreement aims to enhance collaboration between Greek travel agents and ASTA and includes the exchange of know how and cooperation for joint events, such as business trips, seminars and media visits, to promote both countries as tourism destinations to Americans and Greeks..

Referring to the expanded possibilities for Greece through the cooperation with ASTA, HATTA’s president, Nicholas Kelaiditis, highlighted the importance of extroversion and synergies for tourism development.

On his part, fedHATTA President Lysandros Tsilidis noted the importance of the US market to Greek tourism and underlined that Greece’s travel agents have much to gain from the exchange of best practices, knowledge and agreements with ASTA’s American tourism professionals.

Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias last month said that more than one million US travelers are expected to visit Greece in 2023 generating one billion euros in revenue thanks to 56 weekly flights scheduled to connect the two destinations starting in March.
