Greeks appear to be interested in Airbnbs on smaller, quieter islands, according to the number of searches on the platform in the first quarter of the year (Q1).

The top 10 most searched for destinations by Greeks seeking Airbnbs during January-March this year were Gaios (Paxi), Limnos, Skyros, Tinos, Schinousa, Kimolos, Anafi, Thassos, Areopolis, and Lesvos.

According to data published by the home-sharing giant, overnights stays by Greeks at short-term rentals increased by 50 percent compared to 2021 reflecting traveler demand to seek more affordable accommodation.

Rooms go for an average of 81 euros in Greece compared to 100 dollars at most other worldwide destinations.

Short-term rentals on offer in Greece also garnered high scores for quality with 80 percent of stays awarded 5 stars, the highest rating.

The main booking categories for Greek Airbnb users are Beach, Cities, Rooms, National Parks and Skiing.
