AEGEAN: New International Destinations, Direct Routes for Summer 2023

In response to rising demand and favorable market conditions, Greek airline company AEGEAN is expanding its summer 2023 service with the addition of two million seats to its international network compared to 2022.

The company, which runs airlines AEGEAN and Olympic Air, will embark on its largest-ever summer program, featuring 18 million seats in total with 11 million on its international network, 800,000 more than in 2019.

A member of Star Alliance, AEGEAN this season will operate in 46 countries with 264 routes to 161 destinations from 8 bases.

The company’s expanded service will include 16 new international destinations, 25 new direct international routes and 4 new countries (Morocco, Kuwait, Latvia and Azerbaijan).

AEGEAN has also significantly increased frequencies on existing routes. The company has added scheduled flights to and from: Birmingham, Newcastle and Bristol (United Kingdom), Bratislava (Slovakia), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), Baku (Azerbaijan), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Riga (Latvia), Split (Croatia), Seville (Spain), Marrakech (Morocco), Pisa and Olbia (Italy), Kuwait (Kuwait) and Lille (France).

Regarding new international routes, AEGEAN this summer will connect Athens with Marrakesh (Morocco), Birmingham (United Kingdom), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), Lille (France), Palma de Mallorca (Spain) and Kuwait (Kuwait), among others.

The company will also offer flights from Thessaloniki to Yerevan (Armenia), Cologne (Germany), Barcelona (Spain), Tbilisi (Georgia) and Venice (Italy); and from Heraklion to Lille (France).

In addition, AEGEAN’s summer 2023 service will connect Tel Aviv with Ioannina, Chania and Kalamata.

The company also announced charter flights to Bremen (Germany), Malmö and Gothenburg (Sweden), Burgas (Bulgaria) and Timisoara (Romania).

Flights to launch in the following days

According to the company’s flight schedule, flights will soon launch from Athens to Newcastle, Valencia and Eindhoven; from Thessaloniki to Barcelona, Nuremberg, Cologne, Hanover and Venice; from Heraklion to Vienna and Marseille; and from Rhodes to Belgrade.

We retired couple with some limited sight, the Aegean website has said book flights from Seville to Chania in May 2024 but we only see 1 flight direct in all of May? Could someone tell us would that be correct? Thanks

Recently had a flight from Stockholm to Athens the negative is the cramped leg space which is worse than EasyJet – good airline but the leg space needs situation needs to be resolved

How I wish Olympic would return to Syros. Even one flight a week to Athens or Thessaloniki would make a huge difference and I’m sure it would be profitable. Lots of rich people visit Syros and they would surely welcome a seamless connection to Aegean’s international network.It’s a mystery to me why nearby Paros has several flights per day but the much more attractive Syros is lucky to have one flight per day.

The Athens-Syros is a Public Service route so the service is attributed by the government after a tender. The government chose Sky express during the last tender so thats why there is not Olympic anymore on this route
