Greek Cuisine Awards 2023: Salonica Restaurant Receives Highest Score in Thessaloniki

The Salonica Restaurant in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, received a big round of applause at the Greek Cuisine Awards 2023 grand ceremony held recently at the Makedonia Palace hotel.

Part of the Golden Chef Cap Awards launched by Athinorama magazine in 1994, the Greek Cuisine Awards event rewards the best restaurants with Greek cuisine all over Greece.

The Salonica Restaurant achieved a score of 15/20, the highest among all restaurants in Thessaloniki.

Located on the ground floor of the 5-star Makedonia Palace hotel, the Salonica Restaurant offers all-day dining with views of the Thermaikos Gulf and Mount Olympus. It features an innovative open kitchen concept and offers a diverse selection of buffet and à la carte options. Its meticulously curated wine labels further enhance the dining experience.

Salonica Restaurant’s menu is curated by Executive Chef Sotiris Evangelou, renowned for his use of seasonal ingredients and his gastronomic expertise in top hotels and restaurants in Greece and abroad.

During the 2023 Greek Cuisine Awards, Evangelou and his team collaborated with award-winning Chef Asimakis Haniotis for the awards’ gala dinner.

This year a total of 117 restaurants across Greece were honored at the Greek Cuisine Awards 2023 event for honoring Greek gastronomy and showcasing their rich culinary heritage and creativity.

Following the Greek Cuisine Awards, the Golden Chef Cap Awards ceremony will be held on September 8 at the Grande Bretagne hotel, followed by the Top Notch Awards ceremony on October 2 at the Grand Hyatt Athens hotel.

Salonica Restaurant & Bar is also among the 155 restaurants in Greece nominated for a 2023 Golden Chef Cap Award. Last year, the award ceremony was dedicated to the Zero Food Waste movement and introduced two new award categories: The One to Watch and Chef Patissier of the Year.
