Surveys, Trends & Stats Brits Would Vote ‘Yes’ to Rejoin EU, Says YouGov Survey by GTP editing team 25 July 2023 written by GTP editing team 25 July 2023 1 comment Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 16 A new survey has found that a majority of Britons would vote to rejoin the European Union if a referendum were held today. Conducted by YouGov, the recent poll found that 55 percent of respondents would vote to rejoin the EU, while 31 percent would vote to remain outside the bloc. The survey also found that 51 percent of respondents would vote in favor of the UK rejoining the EU if a referendum were held today, while 32 percent would vote against. Source: YouGov. According to the survey, support for rejoining the EU is highest among younger voters, with 62 percent of those aged 18-24 saying they would vote to rejoin. Support is also strong among Labour Party voters, with 81 percent saying they would vote to rejoin. The findings of the YouGov survey suggest that public opinion on EU membership is shifting in favor of rejoining the bloc. This is likely due to a number of factors, including the economic challenges that the UK has faced since leaving the EU, as well as the political instability that has followed Brexit. Source: YouGov. Other YouGov survey findings include: 63 percent of those asked think Brexit was a failure (up by 8 percent compard to YouGov’s May 2023 poll), while only 13 percent view it as a success story. 70 percent of survey respondents stated that since 2016 the British government has overall handled badly Britain’s exit from the EU (up by 9 percent compared to May’s poll). Nigel Farage, one of the biggest advocates of Britain’s departure from the European Union, has also said to British media that Brexit had failed with the Tory government not delivering the positive outcome UK’s departure could have brought.
