The company is aiming to set up the largest seaplane network in Europe with seaplane operations scheduled to begin next year. At the same time it hopes to become the first in Greece to offer hydroplane connections to and from the islands and mainland. The company received its first CESSNA Caravan C-208 seaplane earlier this summer. The CESSNA Caravan C-208 can carry up to 12 people. A test flight with Hellenic Seaways’ brand message – “Connecting Greece” – was carried out. Meanwhile, the delivery dates for two more seaplanes initially scheduled for the end of 2023 have now been pushed back to 2024. Once completed and ready for take-off, the company’s seaplanes will be able to cater to the needs of cruise travelers and cover off-shore excursion needs, said Hellenic Seaplanes President and CEO Nicolas Charalambous. Options will include charter flights, package site-seeing and island-hopping flights from seaplane ports in Kalamata, Kyllini, Patra, Skyros, Skopelos, Volos and Alonissos.
