The Spanish TV show “Madrileños por el Mundo” (Madrilenians around the World) recently visited Thessaloniki to film the everyday life of the Madrilenians living in the Greek city. A travel show on Telemadrid, Madrileños por el mundo has a team of reporters that travels to various cities in the world to document the experiences of Madrilenians living abroad. The Madrilenians explain why they chose to move abroad and introduce the cities they live in. They also share the most interesting aspects of their everyday life. In Thessaloniki, the Madrileños por el mundo team spoke with Sylvia, Alba, Maria and Giyemo, who are residents in Thessaloniki. The Madrilenians spoke of their daily life in the city and introduced the show’s host Beatriz Vigil to Thessaloniki’s important sights and spoke of the vibrant life and local gastronomy. The show’s production team was accompanied by representatives from the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO) and the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) branch in Madrid, who supported the promotion of the city on Spanish television. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Thessaloniki Travel (@thessaloniki.travel) TTO President Voula Patoulidou met with the team and the Madrilenian residents of Thessaloniki at the city’s Castle and discussed issues involving the further promotion of the city as a tourism destination to the Spanish audience. “Thessaloniki’s airport welcomed over 10,000 Spanish visitors in 2023, up by 1.240,7 percent compared to 2022, which is by far the highest ever recorded for any Greek destination,” Patoulidou said, adding that the efforts of Thessaloniki’s Tourism Organization and GNTO’s branch in Spain will bring even more impressive results in the future. The organization aims to promote the city as the ideal city break destination. Previous online campaigns reached over 1.5 million users on social media. Before Thessaloniki, the team of Madrileños por el mundo had visited the French Riviera travelling through Aix-en-Provence and Nice. Destinations shown on the show include Bangkok, Strasbourg, Kansas City, Bali and Washington DC.
