Aiming to reach out to UK travelers and hit record arrival highs this year, authorities on Skiathos island announced the launch of a 30,000-euro promo campaign targeting the British market.

As part of its ongoing strategy to strengthen source markets and open up to new territories and amid increasing competition, the Municipality of Skiathos has for the fourth consecutive year entered an agreement with UK tour operator Jet2holidays and leisure airline Jet2.com for the promotion of the island.

The agreement was signed this week between Skiathos Mayor Thodoris Tzoumas and Jet2 Head of Airports & Tourism Organizations Janice Mather. “Our collaboration with the Municipality of Skiathos has given us the opportunity to promote the destination in the best way and in combination with the company’s high level of services,” she said.

The municipality has invested 30,000 euros for marketing actions in Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Leeds, Manchester, London and Newcastle, destinations which offer 17 weekly direct flights to the island via Jet2.com.

In addition to its sea and sun offering, Skiathos authorities are also highlighting alternative tourism experiences on the island with the aim of extending the tourist season.

Absolutely fabulous place to stay, we call it our happy place, as I am sure many other people do as well.

Just returned from Skiathos and stayed in town. Lovely holiday, would hate it to be spoiled by too much tourism. SO disappointed that the authorities have given permission for the tennis club to be bulldozed and replaced with a lidl! The tennis club is the best building & facilities in town, pool, sunbeds, food all top class. Unforgiveable

We are due on the island again on 27th August for two weeks and this’ll be our 29th time. We also wish the season was longer. John A York. Co. Durham.
