Residents and visitors of Athens will enjoy exploring the city and its unique attractions during the 28th Cycling Tour organized by the Athens Municipality.

On Sunday, October 20, Syntagma Square will turn into a buzzing cycling hub with fun activities for all ages, celebrating the role of sustainability in making daily city life greener and better.

Participants will have to choose between the classic 7km course or challenge themselves with the thrilling 16 km route. Both races start and finish at Syntagma Square, offering a one-of-a-kind chance to discover the city on wheels.

“Bring your bike to Syntagma Square, let’s explore our city in a new way, and show that we all want a more sustainable and humane Athens,” said Athens Mayor Haris Doukas.

The weekend program will also feature:

– a bike test session showcasing over 20 different models
– a bike racing floor game with specially designed challenges.
– a mini traffic park to teach participants how to navigate safely in traffic
– an electric assist bike test track
– a skills track with games and activities designed to test cycling abilities
– CPR training, providing first aid knowledge from experienced instructors
– a painting exhibition themed around the 28th Athens Cycling Tour, featuring artwork by children (ages 6-12) from the Athens Municipality’s summer sports camps.

Event Conditions

To allow more people to join, the municipality extended the submission deadline to midnight on October 19, with free admission. Participants for the 16km route must be 15 years or older, while those for the 7km race must be at least 6 years old.

Athens Municipality will offer a limited number of bicycles for borrowing, available to participants without bikes upon presentation of a police ID. Additionally, a service company will be on-site on race day to assist with any emergency needs.

The event is supported by the Hellenic Police and the Hellenic Cycling Federation.
