Final Countdown Begins for 41st Athens Marathon: This Weekend!

Athens is in the final countdown to host the 41st Athens Marathon. The Authentic, which will attract over 73,000 runners from 152 countries.

With support from the Athens Municipality, the marathon is a major city event scheduled for November 9–10.

“Athens proudly welcomes athletes and runners from around the world once again this year. On this historic route, we celebrate the spirit of sports, the joy of participation, and the value of inclusion,” said Athens Mayor Haris Doukas.

The event will kick off on Saturday, November 9, featuring the 5km road race and the OPAP Universities Night Run in the evening, welcoming students and academics.

On the following day, participants will run the historic 41.2km route, starting from Marathonas Municipal Stadium, passing through Attica, and finishing at the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro). That morning, a 10km race, a 1.2km children’s route for those born in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and a Special Olympics event will also take place.

All races, except the 41.2km main marathon, start on Amalias Avenue and finish at the Panathenaic Stadium.

To ensure the safety and convenience of residents and visitors and to facilitate the competition schedule, adjustments will be made to public transport routes and road operations.
