In the past three years, Greek travelers have increasingly explored international destinations, with London surpassing Rome in 2024 to become their top choice for the first time.

This insight comes from a study conducted by Tourix, a specialized research firm, which analyzed Google search data from the past three years. The findings indicate a notable shift in travel preferences among Greeks in 2024.

According to the Tourix Data and Business Analytics team, Rome was the leading choice in 2022 and 2023, but London has now claimed the top spot after ranking third in 2022.

The analysis also highlights consistent demand for certain destinations. Istanbul maintained its position in fourth place, while Vienna remained steady in fifth. Meanwhile, Barcelona experienced significant growth, climbing from ninth place in 2022 to sixth in 2024. Additionally, Dubai retained its spot among the top 10, reflecting a growing interest in destinations beyond Europe.

Commenting on the study, Tourix co-founder Stavros Kefalas highlighted that understanding travel trends is now essential for travel agencies.

“As destinations rise and fall in popularity, agencies must quickly adjust their offerings to meet demand,” he said, stressing the need for agencies to adapt quickly to evolving traveler preferences.

“By introducing packages for emerging hotspots while maintaining strong options for well-established favorites, they can stay competitive and continue attracting Greek travelers seeking international experiences,” he added.
