Elafonissi, Greece, Is One Of The Best Beaches In The World For 2014

One of the top 25 beaches in the world for 2014 is Elafonissi in Greece, according to users of travel website Tripadvisor.

The Greek beach, located in west Crete, 75 kilometres southwest of Chania, is in the 17th place among the 25 best beaches worldwide. According to users of the travel website, the best time to visit is the May-October period.

Elafonissi, a tiny island with white sand, means “deer island,” but visitors will not see any deer on the island! It is separated from the shore by a lagoon no more than a meter deep.

Tripadvisor user comment: “Breathtakingly beautiful. The water is crystal clear and the sand displays tones of pink from seashells.”
