ELITOUR is a Greek cluster for medical tourism and aims to establish Greece’s private health sector as an important player in the international medical tourism market by developing strong synergies with Greek tourism sectors.

At the medical tourism council’s first workshop held recently in Athens, members of the Board and representatives from enterprises of Greece’s health, tourism, insurance, advertising and investment sectors, presented the evolvement of the ELITOUR initiative, which could lead to further growth and job creation in Greece.

During his speech, the Greek Deputy Minister of Development, Odysseus Konstantinopoulos, made special reference to the creation of a digital platform to promote medical tourism. The platform would have the cooperation of the Greek ministries of tourism and health.

Also during the workshop and through a Skype connection, the president of the Global Healthcare Travel Council, Emin Cakmak, shared significant information and examples concerning strategies and methodologies for the medical tourism market in Turkey. Mr. Cakmak is also the chairman of the Turkish Healthcare Travel Council.

ELITOUR already counts 30 members/companies and is constantly receiving new requests for cooperation and membership.
