A total of 34.2 million passengers passed through Greek airports during the first eight months of 2015; an increase of 9.7 percent compared to the same period of 2014. The new data also showed that the total number of flights at Greek airports, during the January-August 2015 period, reached 302,907 (of which, 124,906 were domestic and 178,001 international) showing an increase of 4.8 percent on the corresponding period of 2014 when 289,138 flights were performed. In August alone, total passenger traffic (domestic and international) in Greek airports rose by 6.52 percent to 7.68 million passengers. The five Greek airports with the highest passenger traffic for the month of August were those of Athens (2.15 million passengers), Heraklion–Crete (1.26 million), Rhodes (965,000), Thessaloniki (690,000) and Corfu (560,000). In addition, the data revealed that the total number of passengers that passed through Greek airports during the first seven months of this year reached 34.2 million; an increase of 9.7 percent on 2014 (31.2 million passengers).
