NJV Athens Plaza Gets ISO Certificates for Best Practices in Environmental Protection, Safety

The NJV Athens Plaza Hotel was recently awarded with three ISO management system certificates by TÜV Austria, a renowned certification and monitoring group specialized in quality and safety.

Located in the center of Athens, the NJV hotel was recognized for its commitment to environmental protection, safety and energy management and received three prestigious ISO certifications for its best practices in these areas.

More specifically the five-star hotel was awarded the:

• ISO 14001: Environmental Management System
• ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety Management System
• ISO 50001: Energy Management System

Commenting on the ISO certifications, the General Manager of NJV Athens Plaza Vana Lazarakou underlined how they highlight the hotel’s loyalty to its principles for the environment, energy, society and human resources.

“We operate on the best international standards,” she said.

“The NJV Athens Plaza remains at the forefront of the corporate governance policies it applies as well as the tourism principles and values it advocates.”

• ISO 14001: Environmental Management System

NJV Athens Plaza’s ISO 14001 certification acknowledges the hotel’s Environmental Management System, which evaluates and controls the environmental impact of its activities.

The hotel has established best environmental practices and continuously trains its staff on these issues. In this context its suppliers and partners are also required to be ISO 14001 certified or follow environmentally friendly practices.

To support these practices, the NJV Athens Plaza uses local products to support the local economy and reduce the use of transport.

Furthermore, it implements efficient food processes, and uses energy-efficient lighting and heating and cooling systems. Also, the hotel’s staff has been trained to manage its waste effectively.

In addition to the ISO 14001 certification, the hotel’s ISO 45001 certification comes as a recognition of NJV Athens Plaza’s continuous efforts to provide a safe and healthy working environment for its staff and guests by identifying, analyzing, evaluating, and preventing risks that may affect it.

The hotel also aims to increase productivity by reducing workplace accidents and illnesses and improving procedures by identifying hazards in the hotel workplace. The hotel has also worked to improve employee satisfaction.

• ISO 50001: Energy Management System

The ISO 50001 certification recognizes NJV Athens Plaza’s specific energy targets and its energy monitoring and consumption management plan.

Among actions taken in this field, the hotel encourages its employees to be aware of energy issues and supports behavioral changes in the workplace that support energy management.

Furthermore, it has identified equipment with the highest energy consumption and has also reduced CO2 emissions to achieve the hotel’s carbon reduction target.
