Running until Monday, March 6, the three-day event will host hundreds of wineries from all over Greece and abroad, showcasing over 2,500 types of wines to both professionals and consumers. This year will mark the 30th anniversary of the annual gathering that brings together wine enthusiasts with the country’s winemakers, offering them the chance to sample the best that Greek and foreign vineyards have to offer. During Oenorama 2023, visitors will have the opportunity to taste wines from almost all of the country’s protected origins areas, including old and rare wines, obscure or forgotten varieties of vineyards, and various special wines made with unconventional or pioneering approaches. The event’s Tasting Gallery will feature many of the exhibitors’ latest releases (January 2021 onwards), while the Wine Revelations Wine Bar will feature over 60 wines from rare varietals, organic, biodynamic and natural winemakers, poured and explained by a team of sommeliers. Furthermore, the Zappeion venue will house more than 30 “top obscure” wineries from all over Greece (50 percent new wineries since last year), becoming the best place to discover tomorrow’s stars, while the Oenotechnica section will present wine equipment and supplies for wine makers. The wine industry in Greece is one of the most dynamic and extroverted in the country. Greece’s wine exports are on a constant upward trend, with the US now the second market, after Germany, for Greek wine, with a 17 percent share. According to the National Interprofessional Organization of Vine and Wine, Greece exports about 12 percent of its wine production worth 85 million euros. Oenorama is organized by Vinetum, a wine communication company that specializes in event management, content creation and consultancy.
