To enhance its tourism appeal in Western European markets, the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace held B2B meetings with low-cost airlines at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2024 exhibition in London.

At the 44th edition of the WTM London, regional officials met with key tourism professionals, airlines, and influencers to finalize agreements aimed at promoting the region internationally.

Aligned with the region’s tourism outreach strategy, Deputy Governors Panagiotis Archontis (Tourism) and Fani Baharidou (Finance) presented their plan to include Kavala and Alexandroupolis airports in future airline schedules.

Following the exhibition, Archontis highlighted that Greece’s role as WTM’s Premier Partner increased opportunities for the region to showcase its offerings and collaborate with travel agents and major tourism organizations.

“With this support, our region maintained a strong presence through continuous meetings with key tourism stakeholders,” he said, adding that they concluded their participation with a positive impression of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace among international tourism professionals.

The region’s promotional efforts also include participation in major tourism fairs, such as Philoxenia 2024 in Thessaloniki, a tourism event in Warsaw, and B2B meetings in Frankfurt and Athens.

The Greek Travel Pages (GTP) was an official media partner, covering ongoing updates on the event.
