An initiative of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the awards aim to celebrate the best practices of Greek tourism companies and destinations. Over 50,000 Brits cast their votes for the awards, in partnership with Ice Lolly and Travelsupermarket.com, two of the UK’s leading price comparison and booking platforms for holiday packages and travel services. “This award rightfully belongs to the tourism entrepreneurs whose hard work and respect for the region make us proud,” said Skiathos Mayor Thodoris Tzoumas. According to Tzoumas, Skiathos Municipality will remain committed to sustainable tourism development, with plans to enter new markets, promote alternative forms of tourism, and enhance Skiathos’s international appeal. While in London for the WTM fair, the municipal delegation held B2B meetings with leading tourism companies, successfully enhancing the island’s air connectivity through collaborations with EasyJet, Sunweb, TUI Group, Jet2.com, and Edelweiss Air. Organized by the GNTO’s UK and Ireland office, the ceremony in London attracted prominent British media, and Greek journalists, influencers, tour operators, and tourism professionals. Greece was WTM London’s Premier Partner this year and showcased its cultural experiences and year-round tourism appeal through a significant presence at the Visit Greece stand, operated by the GNTO. The Greek Travel Pages (GTP) was an official media partner of WTM London. For more news from the WTM London 2024 expo, see our WTM London 2024 Special.
